Dad's Almost Complete Mountain House

This past weekend, Drake and I drove to Saluda, N.C. to see the progress on my Dad's house. It has come so far from the beginning where it started out being an old dilapidated half-way burnt down home. After much work with tearing the old one down and starting from scratch, it is almost complete. I am so proud of all the work that he has put into it and can't wait to enjoy it. Everything in the house is brand new but looks as though it is an antique. He has spent a lot of time making this "new" house look "old"! I hope to put many memories in that house and am very proud of him!! Love ya!

The Brawler's Beginning Season

Drake has recently joined a men's softball team called THE BRAWLERS!! He is absolutely loving it! They have had two games; they won the first one with a score of 13-12 and lost last night with a score of 9-10. A few of his friends are on the team which makes it even more enjoyable for him. Melissa, Reed's wife/fellow wife of a softball player, and I are the only fans sitting out on the cold bleachers. I don't know if we are the most loyal partners to our spouses or just the dumbest? We enjoy cheering them on and learning our new trick of the trade...Keeping score for the game! Harder than you think...

I might be blonde...BUT it's not real!

As we all know...I love getting my hair highlighted! Just can't do the whole, "brunette" look. I might act like a true blonde at times, but I was not fooled by David L. Bill!! Drake and I sold my old phone on Craig's List and was immediately contacted by this man who we will call David, who wanted to purchase it. He emailed me that he did not have paypal and would have to send the check by mail. No biggie, but he was definitely not getting my home address. We gave him a different address two days ago...Low and behold, I received an email from David today informing me that his bank "accidently" sent me a check for $1500.00 instead of $50.00. He said, because he trusts me, that he would let me cash the check in MY account and then Western Union him $1400.00. But being the gentelmen he is, he would let me keep $100.00 for all my troubles! What blows my mind about this scam the most, is the fact that at the bottom of the email it says, God Bless You! The person who wrote this probably doesn't even believe in God!! I emailed him back and said, "I am blonde, but I am not that blonde! Good Luck!" Just a forwarning to y'all, if it sounds too good to be true, DUH--IT IS!!

My "Barely Started" Teaching Career

I have been so lucky to have majored in a field that I ABSOLUTELY love. I am so blessed to have the good fortune of being excited to go to work each day. As most of you know, I am a long term sub at Satchel Ford in First Grade. I have had the BEST experience and am so glad for the opportunity to have had it. I am only a little anxious about the future for us teachers. I never thought that I would have to worry about getting a contract next year or finding someone to hire me. I hope to have my own classroom next year, because I know Drake can not stand to have any more books or storage bins placed in our house. Knowing how hard all of us education majors worked, it is ashame that in this tough time, teachers are finding it hard to stay afloat. I hope to be hired next year but we will see...Everything happens for a reason...RIGHT?

Married Life

We, or should I say "I", decided to start this blog because we have family all around. We thought it would be a great way to stay in touch with friends and family. People are always aking how married life is or how is so and so... Well, keep reading and hopefully you will know. I look forward to sharing our life and hope you will keep coming back to catch up on Drake and I.
