Monogram Party

This weekend I hosted my first monogram party! (Thanks to Barb and Aimee) We had such a good time. Thanks again to all my friends who joined in! I have everything possible that I could imagine monogrammed, but now I have added to my collection. The hostess gifts were amazing! They had some of the cutest kitchen accessories, party ideas, and bath wear! I would love to have another one when they add to their collection. I am so thankful for great friends to join me.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all! I have to say that I am so thankful to have four moms. My "biological" mom Janice, my step-mom Barb, my mother-in-law Betty, and my Grandmother, Othermama. I was able to spend it with three out of the four. It made for a wonderful day, but very tiring! We went to my mom's house where we celebrated over ribs, creamed corn, green beans, rolls, macaroni and cheese, and angel food cake. Such a southern meal! We don't get to be together a whole lot, so when we do it is extra special! Happy Mother's Day! Love y'all!

Paperback Swap

As most of you know, I love finding GREAT deals on children's books!! I found this website and it has become my new addiction!! It is www.paperbackswap.com You can trade books with anyone in America! All you have to do is post books that you no longer want, that are in good condition with no writing on them, by the ISBN#. The first 10 books you post you get 2 free credits. For every book that someone wants to swap you, you get a credit. You pay for the shipping to their house and vice versa with your book. I put all of our old books on there and have already ordered five Gail Gibbons books, all shipping included!! As long as you keep posting books you don't want, and people request them...you can keep getting good books!! LOVE IT!!!

Kitchen Edition

My kitchen is one of my favorite places in the house. We have only been here for two years and so it is still a work in progress. To be two young newlyweds who just graduated college, I think we have a good start. Definitely not how I would like it to end up. Now being in "The Real World" we will be able to decorate our house how we would like it, and not just what we can afford! It is ours, and so of course, I LOVE IT!!

This is the left side of our kitchen. Too many things on the counter for me, but Drake insists we need them all! I hate clutter! I tried to take a wide pic of the entire kitchen but the window is too large and made the entire picture black...

This is the right side of our kitchen. I love our flat top stove even though it is a pain to keep clean. In our next house we will have more cabinet space because it seems as though we never have enough! These three pics are a few of my favorite things in our kitchen. I love everything monogrammed so it was only appropriate that we have a monogrammed utensil holder. The plate is from our wedding that our guests signed. It means a lot to us, especially since my maid of honor, Alison, made it for us. Being in the south, you have to love palmetto trees. I received this palmetto tree paper towel holder as a wedding gift and absolutely love it! It looks perfect in our kitchen! Thank you Linda!

These are our 3 place settings. I absolutely love the monogrammed ones with my husband and I's monogram. The Grimm's and Carter's gave them to us! Perfect!! The other two are Gamecock colored Spode place settings that we registered for, for our wedding! Can't wait until the other 4 arrive!! Yay!!

SFES Faculty Follies

The past few weeks, first grade and a few others have been practicing very hard for the Faculty Follies. For those who don't know, the Faculty Follies is a competition between the faculty of a school voted on by the children. First grade's team decided to do the "Hoedown Throwdown"! (Thank you, Susan Jones) We knew the kids would love it and it was just being released!! We had the show last night and although we didn't win, we had a great time doing and the kids loved it! I am so blessed to be on a team that enjoys each other and that has welcomed me so!! We all worked really hard and it showed! Hats off to First Grade!! Congrats to second and third grade...the WINNERS!!

Jesup, GA

I am sorry I haven't written in so long!! Crazy, crazy!! Last weekend we went to Drake's dad's house in Jesup, GA. It is about a 4 hour drive but worth it to see him. We don't get to go that often but enjoy it when we can. He is in the midst of trying to move to SC so wish us luck!! I know Drake loves it there! It is such a guy's place, all the land, hunting, fishing, and riding that "rhino". The boys do yard work and "bond" while I clean a little and go "shopping" in a teeny-tiny town. I did find this wonderful store called "Chanberry's." It is a children's consignment store that has wonderful used books and great prices. This has become my hobby. I love the thrill of finding a great book for cheap! Yay!! I got almost 40 books from Eric Carle, Gail Gibbons, Magic Tree House, Tomie dePaola, and many others. I have not been so lucky since that store but I am still looking!! Altogether the trip was fun and successful!!
