Get Your Kids Right...

So yesterday I was at this store, no names mentioned, anywhoo... I was minding my own business when a little boy ran into me. Okay, forgivable... I teach first grade. Then as I am browsing the racks I see that same boy and his brothers running up and down the aisles. Not just running but chasing each other. They were acting a fool. I am trying my hardest not to yell at them until I turn around and see the third brother climbing the shelves. Not only was he climbing the shelves but everything in his way was thrown into the middle of the aisle. I did my teacher eye stare at them as much as I could with out yelling at them. I turn around and their mother is telling them to stop. She is quietly saying it like it's an every day occurrence. Hello LADY! Get your kids in check. If I can control 19 kids for 7 hours, you can do it for 30 minutes. If not, whip your kid or leave them at home. If I wasn't such a nice/scared person I would have told those kids to stop or their mom to get control of her kids. *If you have kids and you are reading this and think, well, wait until you have your own kids and they start acting out... Um- no. My child will know how to act in public. It might take one time for my child to act out but I bet that will be the only time- if you get where I am going. If not, my child will be left at home where these kids should have been. Huh... Gets your kids right lady!
I bet their house looks like this!

  2. Amen. I understand that I have to deal with kids at my job, but I hate having to deal with it in public. The crying is really what gets to me! Get control of your kids!

  6. Being a teacher, you already know a lot about getting kids to behave. You should tell a mother "try teaching 19 kids for 7 hours and see if you can handle it", haha.

  7. Ahh... my sister is one of those Moms where she tries not to "spank", but my niece who is 4 has a mucho grande attitude.. she was being a sass and I looked at her and said good thing you aren't my kid because I would pop you and you would be in time out... and the little brat goes "Well that's why I'm not your kid!"

Granted I wanted to ring her neck, but I couldn't help chuckling..

  11. Amen!!!! Seriously, Shea [3] KNOWS how he better behave in a store or else. He is a well behaved child anyway b/c he is disciplined appropriately and given tons of positive attention, etc, etc but don't even get me started on parents like the one you saw. My 'favorite' [please note sarcasm] parent is the one who lets the kids RUN WILD at home, ignores them, etc, etc and then has the audacity to act all annoyed with them when they act the same way in public. I see it ALL THE TIME. They yell and fuss and say *really* mean things to the kids and the kids look at them like 'What's your deal? We do this all the time at home and you don't even care!". Ugh. IT STARTS AT HOME PARENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
