What Would You Have Done?

I recently got a haircut and the next week I wanted the back a little shorter- it just wasn't quite right. I didn't want to have to make an appointment at my salon so I just ran into a Great Clips. There was an older gentlemen checking out before me. He had to be 90-and precious! When he went to pay he couldn't find his wallet. He started to panic and I really thought he was going to cry- bless his heart. It was raining and he told the lady he would have to call his wife and have her bring him some money. This man looked pitiful- the only thing I knew to do was offer to pay. The man was shocked and grateful. He kept begging me to get my name and address to send me the money. It just wasn't necessary. Plus- I don't give my address out! Ha!

So...what would you have done? Would you have done the same? Let him freak out and panic? Not butt in?

  1. I think I would have done the same thing you did. Maybe it's the way we were brought up? I honestly think that response is the minority.

  3. I would have done what you did :) I have before actually and I'm the same, I refuse to give them my information. Not because I think they are going to come and hurt me but because I just tell them to "pass it on" and when they see someone who needs help to help them out and tell them to pass it on :) I think you did the right thing!

  5. I would have done the same thing, too. I sort of did on Friday at the lunch counter when the person in line in front of me was short $.44 - I offered to give her the money and everyone was shocked, and commented how nice that was. To me it was just normal. It's good to know that others would do the same!

I also used your hairstyle as the inspriation for my last cut. It turned out super cute.

Thanks for being an inspiration in both your actions and style!

  7. That is the sweeting thing and he will never forget it. A little grandmother couldn't find her coin purse to pay for her groceries, and I offered to pay her $8 total. She was so sweet, and she said she couldn't live with herself if I paid, haha! So, the line dragged on while she searched for checkbook!

  8. I would have done the same thing. I love coming into situations like that and doing what I know should be done, because, unfortunately, it doesn't get done often enough anymore!

  10. You did the right thing. Sometimes acts of kindess are few and far between in the world today. Something similiar happened to me the other day. I was in a teachers store and the sales asst asked me to help her with an elderly man. He was making changes to his will and needed 2 witnesses and didn't have anyone to do if for him. It made me sad that he didn't have anyone and had to depend on 2 strangers. He tried to pay us but we both refused. He seemed so shocked that we were willing to help and didn't expect anything in return.
