To Get a Fake or Who Cares...

I was recently at a Christmas party and one of my friends noticed I wasn't wearing a wedding ring...(yes...my fingers have 'swolled up'!) She asked where it was and I told her it wasn't fitting anymore. She asked me if I was going to go to Walmart and buy a fake ring to wear?! What?? I have never heard of such a thing. If someone is that worried that I am pregnant without being married (which I am not) that should be their own fought! She thought it was a good idea so no one would try to hit on me. Well, if you are trying to hit on me right now I would probably be flattered or so creeped out, I'd walk away or spray you with my pepper spray! All in all, no fake ring for me, but it is fun to look!

  1. I don't think it really matters...I probably would just go bare...but no joke, I had a friend who recently gave birth and in that last month or two, her wedding rings wouldn't fit anymore either so she just took them off...and some woman actually had the audacity to lecture her on premarital beliefs. I couldn't believe it. The balls of some people. But strangers are always going to assume. However, those ring pictures sure are lovely:)

  2. It doesn't matter but when we drop off our rings twice a year to get cleaned, I wear a $5 fake ring I bought at Claire's so I don't feel weird without a ring on. It's fooled many people :)

  6. Oh, I have a fake one I wore it while the BF was out to sea so that way I wouldn't have guys hit on me.

  7. The second ring you posted looks similar to mine. Love it :)

My coworker actually wore her rings on a chain around her neck when she was pregnant which I thought was cute.

I would probably get a fake one just because I feel naked without my rings on. Plus it's a chance to wear a totally different style for a few months and have some fun with it.

  9. We live in a world where people look at stuff like that.....wedding rings, are you wearing it etc etc preggo not preggo... If you are comfortable and know you are married then it shouldn't be a big deal. You could always just wear them on a chain around your neck on a necklace that way people would still see your ring and you'd probably wouldn't have to explain as much to strangers bec they'd see it :)

  10. I guess some people get so attached to the security of HAVING a ring on their hand that they almost see it as a security blanket. "I'm ok, I'm married and pregnant, my ducks are all in a row." I have a friend like that. I guess there's nothing "wrong" per se with a fake ring... I have a friend who wanted a bigger-sized ring but couldn't afford it so she got a fake one to REPLACE her real one. I wouldn't go this far though. If anything, I would get a small cheap thin wedding band from Target or Walmart a size (or two) bigger and it would still "look" like I'm married to other people, just choosing not to wear my engagement ring if I want to avoid questions or worse - lectures! I don't think I'd wear a fake diamond, though, simply because I personally wouldn't like it and think every time "this is fake."

  11. I have never heard of getting a fake one for pregnancy but I have heard of that for traveling abroad...which seems funny to me b/c if you're worried about attracting attention with your real ring then the fake one will still attract attention so I don't get it. My rings still fit and I think I'd feel naked without them.
