The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Side of Couponing...

The Good...
So couponing... I've gotten a lot of questions about this lately! I am by far, NO EXPERT! Heck, I have only been doing this for two weeks! But here is what I know for sure...

*If you don't need it, don't buy it!
*Even if it says FREE, it's not.
*Don't cut put Red Plum or SmartSource, keep them in a binder wth the date on top.
*When you get a register reward or what not, you cna't use it until the next purchase.
*I have gotten the best deals when it is either B1G1 Free and you have a coupon or when it's 10 for $10 at Kroger and you have a coupon!

So here is what I do...
1. Make a binder to hold your coupons. Mine has sheet protectors in it.
2. Sunday, get the paper.
3. Take the Red Plum and the Smart Source and put it in a sheet protector with the date on the top right.

4. Go to Southern Savers and check out different stores. My favorites are Walgreens, CVS, Publix, and Kroger. This website will tell you what's on sale and which Red Plum (RP), Smart Source (SS), or printable coupon you can use. If it says ( Lysol -$2.00 in 5/12 SS) it mean $2.00 off this product if you have the coupon that was in 5/12's Smart Source. Then you would go to your notebook, go back to 5/12 and then cut out that coupon. If you don't have 5/12's SS then you can try googling a coupon to print or just not get that deal. When you just begin you won't have a stock pile of coupons to use.
5. I go through my favorite stores and find good deals that I have coupons for.
6. I then look through the Sunday ads just to see if there is anything on sale that I do need but don't have a coupon for.

It sounds complicated but once you try it it'll br a lot easier.

The Bad and The Ugly...
I bought this for...$17.82 and saved...$27.34
This was not what I was wanting to do... In my mind with my calcualtions, this was to only cost me around $10. They (Walgreens and CVS) didn't have one of the items listed in the add and no rain check, wouldn't let my used my register rewards correctly, they lost my $4.00 off Schick razor coupon, and this trip was just stressful. I shouldn't have gotten the Zyrtek, Motrin PM, or the allergy medicine but it said FREE. Well I was greedy, which I have since learned my lesson and got two of each, but it wouldn't let me use my RR for that same purchase so I spent more and bought things I didn't need.

This next time, I will only be getting things that I REALLY need!

  1. I've been wanting to get into couponing more (though not extreme about it) but since I don't have much storage space I really can only get stuff we actually need/will use and I'm finding that it's hard to find coupons and deals for that stuff. Plus often times I really do need only 1 of something and that's cheaper than using a coupon and getting 3 of that item knowing I will never use the extra 2.
