Failed Test and too much weight!?

So yesterday I took my glucose test and... I FAILED... not only did I fail but the doctor told me I bombed it! I was 50 points over the limit... sad day! So...what does that mean...I have to take a three hour test on Monday and see if I have gestational diabetes. I sure hope not!! The husband is Type 1 diabetic meaning he is insulin dependent. Gosh I hope we don't have the option of sharing insulin! Ha...not really funny though. I was told if I fail the three hour test then I will be put on a strict 1800 calorie diet and if that doesn't work, insulin. Seriously? It's Christmas... I am a chocaholic... this is the worst! I am a little bummed...can you tell?
To make it worse, I gained 7 pounds this month. The doc said he would let me slide seeming as though  I have only gained a total of 17 pounds, but not to make a habit of gaining 7 pounds each month. What does he know?? Doesn't he know that I starving?? Can you tell I am a little agitated... 11 more weeks!!

  2. To be honest... a diet isn't bad when you have to do it. When I was breasfeeding and Connor developed his milk protein allergy, I never thought I was going to be able to do a milk-free diet. Milk is in EVERYTHING! I did it for three months. You can pass your three hour test... I know you can!

  3. I think everyone fails the first test. I know I did and then passed the 3-hour test. And don't let your doctor bother you about your weight-you are feeding your baby and you want her to be healthy and share your love of chocolate!!!

  4. That sucks, I can't imagine having to be put on a strict diet like that especially when pregnant. Hopefully you pass the test on Monday. The good thing is that even if you do have gestational diabetes that usually goes away after you give birth.

  5. If it's any consolation, Kelly at Kelly's Corner {blog} failed her test, too. Cheers to hoping that you pass the second one!

  9. With my first child I had gestational diabetes that was never caught, I have no earthly idea how I passed. I was massive, I gained weight everywhere and my son came out 9 lbs 11 oz. So with my second, I was seeing a new doctor and told her how much my son weighed at birth and was scared this one would way MORE! She freaked out and could not believe that he weighed that much and I wasn't gestational diabetic so at 17 weeks she had me prick my finger 3 times a day and jot down my blood sugar. At my next appt she looked at the numbers and said, yep, you're gestational diabetic and I had to start inserting insulin into my stomach twice a day, on top of pricking my finger 3 times a day. It isn't quite as bad as it sounds but it does take some getting use to. My daughter came out weighing 7 lbs 11 oz, so 2 lbs less.

I gained about the same with each pregnancy but looked so much better while pregnant with my daughter due to not gaining everywhere and just in my belly
